Niko Martinović

Bibliografy

He was born on 12 November 1951 in Nikšić, where he finished Elementary School and the Grammar School. He graduated from the Faculty of Philology, Department of World Literature in Belgrade in 1975. He was the director of the Center for Culture Nikšić for many years. He served as the President of the Municipal Conference of the Socialist Alliance of Working People. He was a member of the Parliament of Montenegro for two terms. At present, he is the director of the Museums and Galleries of Podgorica.

He has published the following books: Biljezi i značenja (Markers and meanings) (1998); Crna Gora – biografski zapisi (Montenegro - biographical records) (2004); Crna Gora u slikarstvu XIX i XX vijeka (Montenegro in the painting of the XIX and XX century) (2007); U sazvježđu duha (Šobajići: Maksim, Bekica, Branko, Simo, Ilija i Petar) (In the constellation of the spirit (the Šobajić family: Maksim, Bekica, Branko, Simo, Ilija and Petar (2009)), Crna Gora i Habsburška monarhija 1715-1918 (Montenegro and the Habsburg Monarchy 1715-1918) (2014). For a long period of time he was an editor of the edition „Cultural heritage“, within which about forty books were published (reprints, phototypes) from our rich cultural and historical heritage. He was an associate in many newspapers and magazines. He won the Thirteenth July award for 2014, the Award of Liberation of Nikšić „18 September“ and the award „Zaloga“. He became an Associate member of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts on 29 November 2011.

He serves as the secretary of the Department for Humanities of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts since 1 August 2016.

He lives in Nikšić.
